Position Title: Executive Director
Description:

Founded in 1999, Eisner, LLP is a business and entertainment firm with offices in Los Angeles and New York. Our services include sophisticated counsel to businesses and individuals in the areas of entertainment, media and the arts, corporate, real estate, and litigation, from a team of over 40 lawyers committed to providing clients with dedicated and efficient services of the highest quality. Our clients range from start-up ventures to household-name media and entertainment companies, investment firms, brands and influencers, REITs, banks, and high-net-worth individuals and family offices.

Role Overview

The Executive Director (“ED”) will provide firm-wide leadership and manage all firm functional areas and business operations as an extension of the Managing Partner.  The ED will collegially partner on key firm-wide decision-making and projects to drive the firm forward to the “next level.”  Central to the ED’s activities will be shaping the fast-growing firm’s direction and functional support areas.  Key anticipated initial projects will likely include:  supporting lateral growth, bolstering the firm’s infrastructure, managing communications, solidifying the firm’s marketplace “employment brand,” augmenting benchmarking and service excellence in all functional areas, collaborating on a new financial system, and increased marketing and social media initiatives.

Required Skills:

The ED will collaborate with a team of 40 lawyers and lead approximately 20 professional staff employees from the Los Angeles office while also overseeing the New York operation.   The approachable ED will directly supervise employees responsible for Finance/Accounting, Human Resources/Recruiting, Information Technology, Records, and Administrative/Office Services.

The ED will also:

Collaborate with the firm’s partners to establish the firm’s vision, mission, and values to guide current and future strategies and planning.

Implement robust tools, project management, and technology to facilitate, administer, drive, and measure key firm initiatives and client service.

Understand the core practice areas of the firm and its competitive positioning to similar and larger firms to enhance firm’s marketability, performance, and growth.

Lead -- with the firm’s Managing Partner and CFO -- firm financial performance and planning including corrective or improvement opportunities.

Cultivate a cultural environment of teamwork, communication, and internal client service that also prioritizes talent development and career path mentoring.

Stay abreast of legal and professional service firm trends – including in the entertainment industry -- to improve the firm and its support of clients.

Suggest improvement opportunities, propose recommendations, and inspire progress with the firm’s professional staff resources.

Create practical policies for personnel, risk management, regulatory compliance, and operations.

Required Education:

A minimum of 10 to 15 years of well-rounded operational leadership in premier law firms, professional services firms, or similar entities.

Broad and deep experience advancing firm programs, processes and performance in a fast-paced “sink or swim” environment without overly inefficient analysis.

Focus, organization, and calm composure to drive multiple competing firm projects and initiatives forward at the same time.

Leadership experience shaping strategic and tactical plans from broad objectives and vision.

Strong business, problem solving, financial management, decision-making, and analytical skills.

Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to credibly lead through influence and consensus-building as opposed to control or brute force.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Experience leading successful teams, delegating, and teammate development toward greater responsibility and personal growth.

Ability to independently conceptualize objectives, plans, and action steps with minimal direction.

Capable to drive organizational change as an enthusiastic well-reasoned leader, but also selflessly flexible and adaptable to changes and feedback as a team member.

Exhibit confidence from experience but resiliently understand that progress toward firm’s vision is the goal and not commitment to own plans or ideas.

Operates with a high level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy, judgment, and discretion based on firm’s atmosphere and clients.

Skilled at developing trust with firm stakeholders and professional staff.

An undergraduate degree in business administration or a related field is required; MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
