Position Title: Manager, Legal Recruiting
Description:

Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Manager, Legal Recruiting to join our dynamic team. This position will be responsible for managing firm-wide law student and associate recruitment. This position will also assist with lateral partner recruitment and new attorney integration processes.

The ideal candidate will thrive in this highly interactive role and will be flexible, creative, and collaborative.  This incumbent may reside our California, Illinois, Michigan, Minneapolis, Texas or Washington D.C. offices. 

Required Skills:

Manage the attorney recruiting process, including working with partners strategically to determine staffing needs and devise recruiting plans to acquire top talent. Proactively leverage existing relationships in the market, attorney referrals and external legal recruiting agencies to build candidate pipelines and sustain volume hiring across various practice areas.

Partner with department director to develop and deliver the firm’s law student recruiting strategy, managing execution of on-campus interviews, callbacks, offers, summer associate recruiting events and campus outreach activities.

Serve as point of contact for applicants and search firms; screens applicant resumes and produces appropriate responses and correspondence.

Produce and distribute timely reports to keep hiring partners informed on progress regarding hiring candidates, diversity demographics and other critical metrics; assist firm management with hiring decision-making process

Facilitate diverse candidate pools, in compliance with the firm’s diversity and inclusion programs goals and the Mansfield Rule.

Help lead and implement the firm’s Summer Associate Program, including planning and attending events, managing work assignments and the review process.

Prepare offer letters and welcome notices, including firm announcements for new hires.

Perform required pre-employment checks (conflicts, background, references and education verification).

Facilitate new hire orientation activities for summer associates, new (fall) associates, lateral hires and attend attorney events.

Greet and interact with candidates including answering general questions relating to firm practices/procedures.

Assist department director with administering the associate review process, associate compensation programs and support the Associates Committees.

Prepare and monitor assigned recruiting budget.

Assist in developing and maintaining content of recruiting website.

Maintain and update applicants files and database records.

Negotiate/work with Legal Search Firms and arrange for payment of placement fees and referral bonuses.

Serve as the point of contact with all outside organizations involved in the Summer Associate recruitment process including the National Association for Law Placement and law schools.

Assist with coordinating professional development, mentoring programs and CLE compliance programs, as requested.

Assist professional development personnel with associate review and associate compensation programs and support Associates Committees, as requested.

Help coordinate diversity and inclusion, and employee resource group programs and events, as requested.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of management and recruiting/position-related related experience in a law firm, law school, or legal services environment; advanced degree is a plus.

Proven track record of managing relationships with law schools and/or recruiting firms.

Strong project management skills and change management experience.

Strong client service orientation, excellent interpersonal skills, judgment and discretion with respect to confidential and sensitive information.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and tech savvy.

Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines, daily requirements, be flexible and adjust to changing priorities.

Outstanding relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate equally well with senior administrative leaders, members, associates and staff across the firm.

Ability to use initiative and judgment to accomplish results.

Analytical thinker able to devise insightful reports and use data to support proposed action plans.

Computer proficient with knowledge and understanding of various database systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, viDesktop; ability to quickly become adept with various software used for recruiting, work allocation, CLE tracking, reviews, etc.

Occasional travel required.
